Venue Director

This is a full time position, based in South Austin.


About VUKA:

VUKA is a co-working and event space that provides a place for the community to gather, connect, and create. Vuka’s sister company, Wakeup, utilizes Vuka’s facilities, focusing in the private sector, as an off-site cultural retreat center for existing companies and organizations; the purpose is to evaluate the needs of each individual organization and pair them with one of our many trained professionals from around the country. Publicly, Wakeup functions as a retreat center for facilitators around the country to host unique and creative programs that focus on bringing an awakening to our local community. Examples include focus on self-development, spirituality, creativity, and more.

Position Purpose:

  1. Maintain the daily operation of the Vuka venue

  2. Assist in the growth and operations of Vuka’s sister organization, Wakeup

  3. Ensure that events run smoothly and efficiently while adhering to all of Vuka rules and regulations

  4. Maintain Vuka’s aesthetic and represent the venue as defined by founder and council

  5. Establish and implement departmental goals, objectives and procedures in conjunction with Vuka officials and staff members as needed

  6. Maintain Vuka’s event integrity and help to further cultivate Vuka’s relationship with the neighborhood as well as the City of Austin

  7. Be an ambassador for Vuka’s mission within the community

  8. Create and implement marketing materials for Vuka

  9. Review financial statements, sales and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement as defined by founder

  10. Recruit, manage, coach, and develop the staff team

Professional Capabilities Required:

  • 5+ years of Operations Management experience

  • Experience in sales and/or customer service

  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent employee relation skills

  • Experience with small startups a plus
