August NEAWP Meeting Recap

We all met at Sagra for the NEAWP monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 1.  Our guest speaker was  Meredith Vachon, President, of  Bread & Butter Public Relations.

Meredith defined a PR campaign as a Megaphone–a way to get your business heard about the buzz.  Bread & Butter PR specializes in the Lifestyle/Hospitality market.  They have had public relations successes ranging from Austin local event planners featured with segments on the morning news to national campaigns featuring contestants from Top Chef Masters!

We heard advice about branding, new media campaigns and traditional public relations, like make social media one of your clients and dedicate an hour a day to nurturing that client relationship!

Are you wanting to hire a PR firm to help you get more attention?  Some questions you should ask perspective vendors include: What have you accomplished lately/case study/similar business successes & Who are some of your current clients? How often and how much do you update your clients on progress?

It’s an investment!  Expect a retainer for a new media campaign to start at $1K/month and a campaign encompassing all media (social and traditional) at $2K/month.
